Legend was recorded by Eric Parkin for Chandos (using this Fand edition) on The Piano Music of Arnold Bax, Volume IV [CHAN 9561]. This CD is now available only in MP3 download format, but it has since been incorporated into the four-disc pack, Bax Piano Music [CHAN 10132(4) X].

The recording of Legend given above is both recent and complete. Prior to its inclusion here, we had a one-page extract from Eric Parkin’s recording, included by kind permission of Chandos Records Ltd. It remains accessible below for the sake of interest: Eric Parkin was very complimentary about the Fand edition, and his is the first recording of the work. The one-page sample was chosen to correspond with one of the sample pages from the score: to follow through the music while listening, first click the Play button to start the sound playing and then click on the third sample page (page 10), above, to see the music.
